Asics Gel Hyper Speed

Asics is taking the marathon scene by storm with their racing model, Asics GEL Hyper Speed. Considered to be a neutral shoe, the model has the perfect balance of firmness and cushioning for a speedy performance on the track. The shoe construction is minimal, yet packed with shoe technologies to give runners an advantage in fit and flexibility. In fact, most people are torn between using it for daily fitness activities and half or full marathons. This is already a sign that the shoe is versatile as neutral racers get.
In terms of popularity, the Asics GEL Hyper Speed is being used by world- class athletes such as Ryan Hall, an American long-distance runner. The newest version received a few of the latest technologies from Asics, making it more competent and reliable in achieving competitive goals in track racing. Runners can expect a responsive ride from the low- profile, yet impressive Asics GEL Hyper Speed.
Arch support and pronation control
The Asics GEL Hyper Speed features a bit of an arch support, despite the fact that it is a neutral racer. The arch support of the shoe is recommended for mild pronators with a neutral gait. Pronation is defined to be a biomechanical issue that involves the natural rolling of the foot inward. Certain shoes, like the Asics GEL Hyper Speed, decelerate pronation and improve gait efficiency altogether. Mild pronators need medial support to assist their feet in running, and it could be provided by the Asics GEL Hyper Speed.
Terrain
The Asics GEL Hyper Speed has an almost flat under surface with a newly-designed outsole. Its treading style can be seen in other racing flats. The shoe is built for the road and other even surfaces, like gravel and track. It could also be used on natural trails and terrains with slight irregularities, like twigs and stones.
Use

The Asics GEL Hyper Speed has a good combination of flexibility and firmness. It is great for marathons and speed work, considering its lightweight concept and shoe technologies. It is also a good choice for daily fitness, especially among those who take exercising seriously.
Durability
Many runners are worried that the Asics GEL Hyper Speed has a problem with quality, seeing that the shoe has an inexpensive price tag. However, the neutral racer is fairly equipped for heavy use.
Fit and sizing
The Asics GEL Hyper Speed has a standard length. It can accommodate small to medium widths. As for the fitting, both the mid-foot and heel regions are of a conventional size. However, the toe box or forefoot fit could be described as roomy or spacious.
Outsole
The outer sole of the Asics GEL Hyper Speed would please track racers, but it could limit their distance. In fact, one could not find a shank or plate on the under surface of the shoe. This means that the sole is too well-cushioned to be used for long distance races. Some runners might like their neutral shoes to be stiffer or firmer to enhance their speed. The Asics GEL Hyper Speed could only be used for half to full marathons, and not farther. The DuraSponge in the forefoot and the AHAR outsole are still found on the under surface, improving the shoe’s traction and durability. It also has a high wear resistance, which is the best for heavy use. The Rear Foot cushioning system is also found on the outsole’s heel, resulting in a springy heel strike that would lead to a better toe- off. The GEL system also adds to the softness of the platform, improving the stability and shock absorption during landing impact.
Midsole
The midsole of the Asics GEL Hyper Speed is not as beefed up as other neutral racers, given that the shoe is designed to be as minimal as possible. However, it might have a bit of arch support, thanks to the presence of the F.A.S.T. Drop. This is due to the curl in the midsole, just under the arch. It also has a hard plastic heel counter just above the Rear Foot GEL cushioning system and below the SpEVA midsole. This spreads out the shock from the landing impact, and ensures that the runner would be protected. There is also a Magic sole layered on top of the SpEVA midsole, which is vented to facilitate ventilation inside the shoe. There are not sweat- absorbent liners, but the Magic sole truly compensates.
Upper
The upper construction of the Asics GEL Hyper Speed is made of open mesh layers to guarantee flexibility and breathability.  The mesh is done in a double layer design with welded overlays to improve the structural support of the shoe. The internal lining follows a seamless construction, which provides a soft and irritation- free comfort through the mid-foot. Stitching can be felt on the sides. The fit in the forefoot or toe box is very roomy, perfect for splaying.  However, the mid-foot and rear foot regions are secure enough to prevent slippage. There is a perforated sock liner that also improves breathability and step- in comfort. The Slip Lasting is also obvious, with a standard lacing system for a customized fit.
Summary

There is a reason why elite racers prefer the Asics GEL Hyper Speed for half and full marathons. Its low profile and lightweight design enable them to improve their speed on the track, while its features contribute to a top notch performance. The flexible package of the shoe makes it hard to beat. Distance racers would have a hard time finding another neutral racer that could provide ample cushioning while retaining a closer distance to the ground for a natural running technique. Furthermore, its price makes it a good bargain. As compared to other neutral racers in the market, the Asics GEL Hyper Speed’s combination of flexibility, durability, comfort and a secure fit instantly wins the approval of both casual and professional runners.
Price
The Asics GEL Hyper Speed might be sold under a high- end brand, but its price is much cheaper than other neutral racers in the market. While many people question this move from Asics, elite racers have been enjoying the shoe at its original price of $85.
